Personalized Engraving puts their name, their dates, or a short phrase onto your Cherished Emblems piece so you can keep a part of them with you in their own words.

Every engraving is laser engraved here in Oregon, one piece at a time, on the same necklaces, bracelets, keychains, and rings you order from us. Engraving for jewelry for ashes works best when it is simple: names, dates, and short phrases up to 25 characters read clearly on a small surface. The more you add, the smaller the letters become.

How to add engraving

1. On any engravable piece, tick Personalized Engraving in the Jewelry Add-Ons box above the Add to cart button.
2. Type what you would like engraved. You will see it preview in the font you choose.
3. Pick a font: Alegreya SC, a clean classic lettering; Alex Brush, a flowing cursive; or Open Sans, plain and modern.
4. Add the piece to your cart. Your engraving details travel with the order, so there is nothing to remember at checkout.

Their handwriting or thumbprint

If you have a card they signed, a note in their hand, or a thumbprint from the funeral home, we can engrave that instead of typed text. Tick Personalized Engraving, then use the upload field to send a clear photo or scan. We trace it, send you a proof by email, and engrave only after you approve it. Shoppers often search for fingerprint jewelry; a thumbprint or fingerprint from an ink card works the same way.

Where the engraving goes

Most pendants are engraved on the back. Pieces with a flat front and no design can take engraving on the front, and bar and cylinder styles can carry it along the side. If a piece already has words on the front, we engrave the back. Glass and Murano pieces are engraved on the steel back only. Earrings cannot be engraved. If you have a preference, add a note in the engraving field or reply to your order confirmation and we will follow it where the surface allows.

What to expect

• Laser engraved in Oregon: crisp, permanent lettering that will not rub off or fade.
• Timing: allow up to 7 extra business days for engraving before your piece ships. Engraving is our busiest work in the weeks before the holidays, so order early if it is a gift.
• One piece, one engraving: the add on covers one piece. Ordering two engraved pieces? Tick the box on each.
• Final sale: because each engraved piece is made for one person, engraved jewelry cannot be returned or exchanged. Please check spelling and dates before you order; we engrave exactly what you type.
• Already ordered? Add this item to your cart on its own and reply to your order confirmation with what you would like engraved. We will match it to your piece as long as it has not shipped.
